I am a Fulbright grantee who will be lecturing and teaching at the state university in Ilheus, Bahia, Brazil. I was honored to be chosen for this opportunity and hope to grow both professionally and personally on this journey. On this blog I will be documenting and discussing my life in Brazil. That might include my experiences working in the university, how to prepare my new favorite Brazilian dish and unique experiences I have while traveling. Please remember that I am very blunt and adventurous person! On this blog I will not take sides nor favor one culture over another, but I will tell it how it is. I will also share very personal and exciting moments in my life!
For those of you who know me well, you know that I adore the beach and beach style. I titled my blog My Havaiana Life after the popular brand of Brazilian sandals, Havainas. Before moving to Brazil, I already owned a treasured pair of yellow, green and blue Havaianas and now that I live in the land of Havaianas, I plan on adding to my collection. They say you never know a man until you spend a day in his shoes, so spend a day reading my blog and following my flip flops sandals all over Brazil. I hope to share my successes, my failures, my love stories, moments of pure joy and sadness. I also wish to educate my readers on Brazilian culture and life, and make them more aware of why the US’s relationship is so important.
